Considering him as an accused in a murder case, the district police arrested a college director in Shahganj town of the district on Thursday.
later, taking the incident seriously, the Superintendent of Police (SP) attached two police constables to district reserve police (DRP) line.
According to police sources, a team from Obedullahganj police had come to Shahganj for arresting a murder accused.
The cops reached the Purani Basti area in search of the accused and later caught Sunil Gaur, who is the director of Vivekanand College.
Despite the fact, that Gaur clarified repeatedly to the police constables that he was not involved in any
murder case and he has nothing to do with any criminal case, the cops did not pay any heed and took him to the Shahganj police station and put to interrogation.
At that time, a number of locals had gathered in front of the police station alleging that the police caught a wrong person. However, after sometime, the police officials realised that Gaur was not the right person caught by the policemen and he was released.
later, when SP Raman Singh Sikarwar came to know about the incident, he sent the policemen to DRP line.
He has also directed to investigate the matter as under which circumstance innocent man was nabbed.
The drama started at 7 am on Thursday, continued for over two hours and this has put a question mark on the working style of the police.
The College director, who was taken to the police station without any reason, is now planning to move to the court.
He told mediapersons that despite knowing the fact that he was a renowned person of the district, the police personnel deliberately harassed him. “The incident has tarnished my image and thus, I would take stern action in this regard,” he added.
