The police have almost solved the timber merchant murder case mystery. His wife and her paramour have been arrested in this regard, but the criminals who were hired for the murder, are yet to be arrested.

Illicit relationship emerged as the reason behind the murder of the timber merchant who was shot dead and later the body was set afire in Berkehda area, under Govindpura police station area. Police sources said the wife of the decease Manish Thaktani, Sapna has accepted her illicit relationship but apparently denied her involvement in the murder of her husband, while her paramour Harsh Saluja of Idhah Hills locality, is learnt to have confessed of murder.

Sapna also told police that she was in relationship with Harsh Saluja, but recently she had a break up in the relationship. She claimed that Harsh's statement that she was also involved in the murder, was deliberate to implicate her.  During the interrogation Saluja has accepted that he had paid Rs 2 lakh to the contract killers who are residents of Berkhedi locality of Bhopal and claimed that Sapna is also involved in hatching conspiracy to eliminate Manish.

Saluja told police that he knows only one of the killers, Javed, but police are not ready to buy the theory and suspects that accused is trying to misguide and deviate the investigation which could lead to the arrest of culprits. Saluja too owns a timber shop at Pul Bogda and has confirmed that he had paid Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50000 in two installments to the hired killers while the rest amount was paid by victim's wife Sapna.
