PNS

As Bhartiya Janata Party has claimed of considering Veer Savarkar's name for the highest civilian honour—Bharat Ratna—some Congress Party workers put up posters in Indore for opposing the proposed move calling Savarkar a traitor of freedom movement.

Indore municipal corporation staff reached the site to remove the posters, congressmen did not lag behind in threatening them with their influence.

Finally, the police force had to be deployed and the posters where removed by the civic body staff.

In the publicity material the local leaders claimed that the BJP has pledged to handover Bharat ratna to Savarkar, who according to them was a traitor in freedom movement and even apologised to the British.

The Congress leaders in the posters pleaded Bharat Mata not to pardon the BJP wishing sanity for them.

The Civic staff had reached the Regal square to remove the controversial posters, but the Congress leaders had heated arguments with them and even accused them off bearing BJP mentality.

The Congress leaders also intimidated the Civic employees claiming it was their government in the state.

They even asked the Civic body staff to leave the spot. Senior administrative officers then intervened and deployed Police Force in the area, then only the posters could be removed.

To add Bharatiya Janata Party had on October 15 released its election manifesto for Maharashtra assembly polls in which

the party made a promise to the public

that it would demand handing over of Bharat Ratna to freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, social workers Jyotiba Phule and Savitri Bai Phule.
