State Congress president Arun Yadav has sought appointment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apprise him with the ongoing illegal mining in Narmada River.
Yadav in a letter sought appointment for a 15 member delegation from PM Modi who would be visiting Amarkantak in the state on May 5 to attend the concluding programme of 144 days Namami Devi Narmade Yatra. In his letter to PM Modi the MPCC president while alleging that the Yatra is political repeated that the family members of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are involved in illegal sand mining from this pious river.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman KK Mishra in a statement here on Thursday informed that Yadav has also informed in his letter to the Prime Minister that the illegal sand mining is going on fearlessly in the state under political patronage . The morale of sand mafia are so high in Madhya Pradesh that during the past few years they have murdered an honest and promising IPS officer besides attempt to mow down collector by four wheeler, many attacks have been done on police and mineral department officials and attempts of murder have been committed. But the government has not taken any action against the sand mafia instead evidence have come to the fore that the government has taken action against the officers and employees, he added.
Mishra further said that the state Congress chief has also told the PM that the chief minister who has invited you in the concluding program, about 800 to 1000 truck/dumpers per day are illegally extracted during this Yatra from the same chief minister’s home district and assembly constituency. The Condition is so worst that the sand mafia has constructed a temporary bridge of 600 meters over Narmada River in Sehore districts’ border at Joshipur- Jarrapur for sand theft, he added.
Yadav has also enclosed many important documents with his letter to clarify his allegations and requested that when you are coming to attend this program than give appointment to a 15 member delegation of the State Congress that would provide you authentic information over the
issue.
