The Congress party has alleged that expecting certain defeat in the bypolls for Ratlam-Jhabua parliamentary and Dewas assembly constituencies, the BJP has done large-scale preparations for rigging in order to convert its loss into victory.
Former leader of opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh in a statement on Thursday said, “The Government machinery is acting like BJP workers on behest of the ruling party and when this could not
work than the senior BJP leaders started threatening the electorate openly. The Congress party demands from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct the by-election of the Ratlam – Jhabua parliamentary and Dewas assembly constituency under supervision of special central observers.”
Singh after completing three-day tour of the Ratlam-Jhabua parliamentary constituency said that seeing certain defeat, the BJP has shelved all the political restrictions. It has done BJPisation of the Government machinery at both the places and has shouldered it the responsibility of making it victorious by hook or crook.
He said that the administration of the Ratlam-Jhabua parliamentary constituency is finding itself difficult to conduct impartial election due to heavy political pressure. Chief Minister and all his Cabinet colleagues are camping in Ratlam-Jhabua parliamentary constituency since last one week and are pressurising the administrative machinery to make all arrangements as per their wish and in their favour, he added.
The senior Congress leader said that the BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has recently given threatening statement that if Congress emerged victorious than the development of the constituency would be stopped. This is highly objectionable and the ECI should take cognisance of it. Violation of Model Code of Conduct is going on openly and the Chief Minister is directly pressurising the administration to not take any action against local election officer, he added.
