Staff Reporter

Protesting the gang rape case in the State capital on October 31, the district Congress party workers tried to lock GRP Habibganj police station on Friday.

The protesting Congressmen demanded to take action by police in cases of rape and gang-rape without taking limits of police stations in account and demanded severest punishment for the accused.

The gang rape in the State capital has revealed the shallow claims of Beti Bacho campaign and insensitiveness of police towards crime against woman and brought shame to the State capital which is facing deteriorating law and order situation said State Congress spokesperson KK Mishra on Friday.

State Congress spokesperson KK Mishra claimed that if a complaint of a police personnel took 24 hours to be registered then one could understand situation with State people who suffer and deal with this face of the police frequently.

The insensitivity of police towards a gang rape victim who was robbed and tried to kill is height of shirking responsibility and harassing victim and her family.

He praised the courage displayed by victim’s mother who said that if they have not caught the accused they would never have been arrested.

A criminal case should be registered against the police officials involved in handling the case in a negligent manner.

Mishra equated the incident with Nirbhaya rape case and criticised CM and Home Minister Bhupendra Singh regarding their justification of higher figures of crimes due to filing of FIR on every complaint but the claims fall shallow and proved false in the case where the parents and victim where forced to move from one police station to other for reporting and lodging the complaint.

They also demanded resignation of Home Minister, holding him responsible for increasing heinous crimes in the State capital.
