Cong neglecting party in State, says legislator

Zafar Alam Khan

Out of power in Madhya Pradesh since 14 years with three consecutive defeats in Assembly elections, the national leadership of the Congress party that desperately needs to gain power to revive in the State is not mending its ways resulting in resentment among workers, State leaders and elected representatives.

The disinterest of the Congress leadership towards the State where elections are due next year and the party is out of power since last 14 years is beyond understanding. Not only the common workers but State and districts' organisational office-bearers and the elected representatives of the party including legislators are not getting appointment from party vice-president Rahul Gandhi since last couple of months.

A senior legislator of the party on condition of anonymity told The Pioneer that he is trying to meet party V-P since last two months but his office is not responding. "I sought appointment as an individual and for a delegation of the party MlAs too but there is no reply from Rahul Gandhi's office," he added. We are waiting to get an appointment from the party vice-president since over two months, he said.

The senior MlA looking worrisome told that if the things do not change and the leadership continued to neglect the State than we would have to look for other options.

However, State Congress president Arun Yadav who called on Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said, "I sought appointment from Rahul Gandhi and got it immediately without hassles, there is no substance in the thing that the party leadership is not concerned for the State. I also doubt that any MlA has sought appointment from Rahul Gandhi and was not provided time."

Yadav further said that the party leadership is very much concerned for the State and if any elected representative is not getting time to meet the party VP they could contact us we would help them in getting appointment.
