Training guns on Madhya Pradesh's principal Opposition Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday said that the Congress has no moral authority to comment over farmers’ agitation.

Vijayvargiya who had come to meet peasants injured during the protest and admitted at the Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital made the statement while interacting with the media persons.

“When the Congress was in power at the Centre and in the State, agriculturists used to receive electricity supply for only two hours in a day. The Congress’ politics has plunged to rock bottom as a consequence of remaining out of power for a long time. Earlier, the Congress tried to incite farmers but took upon itself to vitiate atmosphere when it failed,” he alleged.

Taking a dig at Congress MP and ex-Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Vijayvargiya said that Scindia should explain steps taken by him for the welfare of peasants while he was serving as Minister in the previous UPA Government. He claimed that he has been meeting the ryots and found no discontent among them against the Centre or the state regime. On peasants dying in the police firing, he refused to comment saying a judicial probe was underway.

Earlier, during the course of his interactions with the injured, Vijayvargiya took stock of their health and inquired from them as to how they sustained bullet injuries. Initially, the disgruntled farmers could not reply to his queries but later on said that police fired on them while they were standing amid the crowd.

On their replies, the BJP leader said whether the bullets were fired by the police or the CRPF jawans. To which the farmers said that that it was police who fired upon them. He also asked farmers whether they are paying money for their medical treatment and clinical tests. To which the injured farmers said they were not paying money for their treatment.
