'Cong fails to fulfil commitment'

SR

The Congress ruled the country and the State for over five decades, but it has failed to fulfil its commitments that made before the Independence and poverty, illiteracy and health issues  still continue to haunt the party,” said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday, while addressing a public meeting at Mihona region in the lahar Assembly constituency of Bhind district during his ongoing Jan Ashirwad Yatra.

Chouhan further claimed that comprehensive development of the State that has been witnessed at present was done under the Bharatiya Janata Party’s only ten-year rule in Madhya Pradesh and the works done by the Congress in its fifty year rule in the State were negligible in comparison to the  works done by BJP Government.

Continuing his attack on the Congress, the Chief Minister said that the grand old party ruined the State, jeopardising its education system, and turned the roads into grooves and starved the farmers for electricity and water and added that when the farmers demanded for electricity the then Chief Minister Digvijay Singh claimed that electricity did not grow on trees. BJP after assuming power in the State in 2003 brought revolution in the field of electricity. The electricity production in the State has been enhanced from 2900 MW to 10,600 MW. During the past five years Madhya Pradesh has accomplished the dream of round the clock electricity due to that over 52, 000 villages of the State are getting 24 hours electricity, he added.

He said that the development has come to standstill in the lahar Assembly constituency; people’s expectations are unfulfilled, the people of the constituency by doing political change would guarantee development of the State. The MlA worked as a bridge between the people and the Government and this bridge was incomplete in lahar.

The people of lahar have to take decision in this direction and have to make BJP victorious so that comprehensive development of the area could be done, he added.
