Cong accuses Govt of financial terrorism

Staff Reporter

The Congress party has alleged that levying fixed tax on petroleum products is financial terrorism of the State Government.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC0 chief spokesman KK Mishra in a statement here on Wednesday said, “The Madhya Pradesh cabinet decision to levy fix tax on petroleum products is financial terrorism of the Bharatiya Janata  Party (BJP)  government of the state.”

Notably, the state cabinet in its meeting on Tuesday that was chaired by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan decided to levy fix tax on petroleum products in the state at the place of per cent on price.

Mishra further said that the decision of MP Government is against the VAT laws passed by the parliament of the country.

According to the VAT law the word meaning of VAT is concerned with imposing tax on the basis of value and that is included under the provisions that tax could be collected only once from the consumer, he added.

He said that the BJP government through such forcible decisions is going to financially exploit poor, farmers and middle class because when the price of crude oil was USD 125 per barrel in the international market then the government was getting tax much higher than the price of petroleum products and that time also the BJP and the MP government becoming well-wisher of the consumer were cursing the then UPA government.

Now, the same well-wishers brigade now acting just opposite to their earlier conduct are out to loot the consumers through financial terrorism and doing maximum exploitation of the

consumers in the country, he added.

The senior Congress leader said that today in the whole country either there is no entry tax on the petroleum products or if it exits in some states than it is not more than 1 per cent but the financially bankrupt state corrupt is levying more than 6 per cent entry tax on petroleum products.

Mishra warned the state Government that if the cabinet decision is implemented than the Congress would agitate on roads against this anti constitutional financial exploitation and terrorism.
