Madhya Pradesh Congress vice-president Rameshwar Neekhra has alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had violated model code of conduct by attending the Foundation Day celebrations and addressing the gathering.
While talking to mediapersons, Neekhra said that under the model code of conduct, the Chief Minister or any Minister cannot give any statement that might influence the voters directly or indirectly.
He stated that on November 1, a programme was organised at the Sardar Vallbh Bhai Park in front of the State Mantralaya, where senior officials including Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) participated. In the same function, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed the gathering.
Neekhra stated that a number of Government employees who are also voters of the State for the Assembly polls scheduled on November 25, was attended during the function and this was sheer violation of model code of conduct by the Chief Minister. He has demanded from the Election Commission to take stern action in the incident.
He further alleged that the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh has hatched a conspiracy to include the names of school students in the name of new voters, so that they may vote for the ruling party. The Congress party is in the possession of the evidences that those new voters included in the voters’ list, who are still studying in schools. At some places, the Congress has registered its objections before the BlOs, but the Commission did not take the complaints seriously and under the pressure from the BJP, the Commission officials are simply including students’ names by taking an affidavit that they have attained the age of 18 years.
Neekhra has demanded from the Election Commission, a thorough investigation in the whole process of including new voters.
