State Congress charged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s ‘zero tolerance policy’ over corruption has failed with the constitution of his new Cabinet.

Former leader of Opposition in Assembly Ajay Singh in a statement here on Saturday said, “The difference between Chief Minister’s statement and deed over corruption is clearly visible as seven of the twenty-three new Ministers administered oath on Saturday are tainted.” Singh further said that the new Cabinet did not have regional balance and many sections have been totally ignored in it. “Chouhan talked about zero tolerance over corruption, when he took oath of office on December 14. His mission has failed with the constitution of the Cabinet and his statements and deeds once again stand exposed before the people of the State,” Singh added.

He said cases were registered in lokayukta against four of the seven tainted ministers while enquiry is pending with the lokayukta against a Minister for his involvement in the police recruitments. Besides, those facing allegations of corruption in Mineral scam and taking bribe were also made ministers.

The Congress leader said that how honest were the intents of Chief Minister for curbing and ending corruption stands exposed before the people of the State. The Chief Minister who off and on advocates for fifty per cent reservation for the fairer sex failed to provide proper representation to the women in his Cabinet while the women of weaker sections who emerged victorious were totally ignored in the formation of cabinet, he added.

He said BJP that always levels charges of feudalism against the Congress has included only those women in the State cabinet who hailed from royal families. Besides it has included a minister in the cabinet who has publicly insulted the women folk, this is also an example of Chief Minister’s difference in saying and doing, he added.
