State Congress on Thursday charged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of openly flouting the model code of conduct in his ongoing Jan Ashirwad Yatra by using Government machinery.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Kantilal Bhuria and chairman of the media, press and publication committee and MP Premchand Gudddu, in a joint statement, here said, “Chouhan is openly violating the model code of conduct by extensively using government machinery in his Yatra.”
The leader duo said that the Chief Minister was using Government machinery for bringing in crowd in his public meetings during his Yatra and was also making announcements to lure the electorate. The tricks adopted by the State Government and its Chief Minister were clear violation of the model code, they added.
Bhuria said the Janpad officers, gram Panchayat secretaries, Panchayat, Angandwadi workers and many other government departments officers had been shouldered with the responsibility of bringing in crowd in the public meetings of the Chief Minister. The Government officers have been told to bring in 500 persons each from their respective place of posting, he alleged.
Guddu said that the chief minister under the cover of his Yatra is trying to lure the innocent people to his party folds by making various announcements. Though the model code of conduct has been imposed in the state but the Chouhan continues to make announcements and is painting false rosy pictures before the innocent people of the state, he added.
He said the Ministers of Shivraj Cabinet and his close confidant officials were mercilessly spending tax payers’ hard earned money in the Yatra. Bhuria and Guddu demanded from the EC to issue enquiry orders against the announcements made in the Jan Ashirwad Yatra of the chief minister and expenses made on its publicity.
