Holding the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government responsible for embarrassing the State, leader of the Opposition in MP Assembly Ajay Singh on Sunday said that the number of foreign tourists arriving in India dropped by 25 per cent after the incidents of rape with foreign women in Datia and Bandhavgarh in the State.
"As per the recent survey reports of the ASSOCHAM Social Development Foundation and the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, these rape incidents tarnished the country's image immensely before the world," Singh said in a statement here.
The Congress leader alleged that the Shivraj Singh Chouhan regime was trying to divert the issue by propagandising a "false" statement that the State topped in growth rate.
"The state has become unsafe for the women, Dalits and the common man. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government is misleading the people by producing mere statistics in the name of development," Singh pointed out.
He said that the false propaganda done by the Shivraj Government by spending crores that the State has become number in terms of development has given a false impression of the State in the country. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan might not have played any role in the development of the country but he has played an important role in degrading and shaming the country, he added.
The leader of opposition said that the development claims by this government are shown only in figures and the BJP is misleading the people of the State by showing these false figures. The people of State understand BJP well and would teach it a lesson in the next assembly elections, he added.
