Datia district’s second ranker in class XII exam of Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) is running from pillar to post from last one year to get his date of birth corrected in the mark-sheet issued by the Board.
Somu Datre, son of Atmaram Datre passed the class XII Board exam in 2012. Student of a private school named Tilak Inter College, Somu stood second in the district with 93.8 per cent marks. He was also felicitated by the State Health Minister Narottam Mishra and the then district Collector for his outstanding performance.
However, Somu’s mark sheet, which depicted his exceptional performance, had wrongly mentioned his date of birth as June 20, 1993 instead of June 20, 1996.
Noticing the mistake, Somu’s father immediately submitted an application to the Board for correction of the date of birth. Tilak Inter College, the school from where Somu passed also informed the Board about the mistake.
Not getting any response from the Board, Somu’s father visited the Board office in the State Capital in October last year.
At the office, he met Gwalior Division Registrar Shivan Kutti and apprised him of the situation. Kutti directed him to submit the original mark-sheet and also pay the required fee.
When informed about the situation, PRO SK Chourasia said, “It is very surprising that the mark-sheet was submitted to Shivan Kutti who was in Records Section. Such problems are looked after by the examinations section.”
