Madhya Pradesh police on Friday successfully rescued a trader of Indore from the clutches of abductors after a fiery encounter between police and the miscreants near Silver Spring Colony of Indore. Three kidnappers including a CISF constable have been arrested.
According to the police, on November 27 the victim Umakant Goyal alias TK (48) went missing and his motorcycle was recovered along with keys at Peeth road culvert. Police were informed and a missing complaint was lodged. later, the family members received a ransom call of Rs 1 crore. The caller also pointed out that failing to provide ransom would endanger the victim’s life and even if the ransom is delayed, he would be killed.
The family members immediately passed on this information to police and subsequently, four teams were formed and the officials launched a massive hunt to nab the miscreants. On Friday between 10 am to 2 pm around 3-4 calls were made by the kidnapers and they agreed to release the victim for a ransom of Rs 25 lakh and a plan to net the kidnapers was prepared.
The abductors first called the victim’s family at Gol Square, but later asked to deliver the money at Indore Bypass Silver Spring Colony. When the police teams were waiting a speeding car van was spotted having a man covered in a bed-sheet and when the car was flagged down it tried to escape. The car was chased and while the police tried to stop the car kidnapers opened fire at SDOP Mhow Arun Mishra and shot two fires at him but he escaped the attack.
Before the kidnaper could fire third time, Mishra, in self-defense opened fire at kidnaper in which he was hit in his stomach. The police overpowered the kidnapers and arrested Akhilesh Aawariya (23), Prakash Sen (29) and Somnath Silvata (35). A case under section 307, 34 of the IPC and 25 and 26 Arms Act against Somnath Silvata has been registered. During the investigation accused confirmed of their accomplice Narendra Singh Thakur alias Bunty of Barwaha under Khargone district was nabbed later.
