Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is only a step away from creating history in Madhya Pradesh by being Chief Minister of the State continuously for 10 years. He is completing nine years in office on November 29.

This record is only in the name of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, who remained in office as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for consecutive two terms, ie 10 years.Known as Chanakya of Indian politics, late Arjun Singh had been a popular Chief Minister of the State. However, he completed only one term of five years. In the next term, he could serve only one year.

In the past nine years, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has proved himself on almost all the fronts. He faced several problems and major issues that would have puzzled anybody, but he overcame them.Whether it was dealing with groupism among the party legislators in early days, Professor Sabharwal murder case of Ujjain or the latest regarding MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, Chouhan always remained undeterred.

In the past nine years, Chouhan also has several feathers in his cap including different schemes that have been copied by other States. They included ladli laxmi, Atal Jyoti for providing round-the-clock electricity, schemes for construction labourers, Teerth Yatra and others.

Apart from his widely acclaimed achievements in infrastructure development and innovative and novel social sector initiatives, Chouhan has embarked upon a campaign christened 'Aao Banayen Apna Madhya Pradesh'. This aims at the emotional integration of the people in different regions of the State to establish a monolith MPian identity besides enlisting active cooperation of the people in development process.

The campaign has evoked very encouraging response and now Madhya Pradesh has carved out a distinct identity as the most happening State with exemplary social harmony.
