CBSE pattern changes may put students in a spot

Staff Reporter

The changes effected by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at the eleventh hour would hamper the chances of the students appearing in Higher Secondary examinations. In the changed pattern, the number of questions asked in the examination would be less in comparison to the question papers set earlier and the students will have to prepare well for descriptive questions.

A class XII student, Aditi Sachdev said that the pattern would be new and we will have to prepare accordingly. This is advantageous for the students and it will help in improving their mental ability as well. “We have informed them about the changed examination pattern and they are preparing accordingly.  In order to score well, we will have to focus more on long answer questions as these questions would have more marks. I hope that I would be able to attempt these questions properly,” he said.

President of Sahodaya Group and principal of International Public School PS Kalra claimed that the step has been initiated so as to improve the mental ability of the students and that they can score more in the examination. Till now in Mathematics, total numbers of questions asked were 29, but according to the new pattern, they will have to solve 26 questions.

There will be six questions with one mark, while seven questions would have four marks. Accordingly in long answer question section, there will be seven questions with six marks each.
