A daylong awareness camp on spreading digital awareness and facilitating the common man to use cashless payment options during day to day transactions organised by MP Anusuchit Jati Vikas Evam Kalyan Samiti in collaboration with District legal Services Authority was held at the Gram Panchayat Sukhi Sevaniya in Bhopal district.

The function was attended by senior advocates Prashant Pathak and Akshay Vajpayi.

Vajpayi speaking as chief guest on the occasion said, “Through the digital awareness campaign transition will be towards less cash and then towards cashless.”

He further said many Illiterate people do not know how to use digital transactions, though they know how to use a smart phone. But we are trying to spread financial literacy. He added that people in large numbers were using mobile wallets following demonetization.

Pathak said financial awareness was an on-going process and it would take some time to reach every part of rural India. He cited examples of other countries where cashless economy was functional and said that India can also make it possible. He said that even after demonetization, there were parts of rural India where there was no concept of banking.

The camp provided adequate knowledge and information about the rights and entitlements under the various centrally sponsored government programs.

The efforts gained prominence under the light that about 70 per cent of the people in India live in rural areas and most of them are illiterate. A substantial number of people are not aware of Digital Money as well as Banking.
