Staff Reporter

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that an ordinance is being brought to ensure the delivery of public service to citizens within the stipulated time. Now if the marked public service is not provided by the officer within the stipulated time, the services will be available to the citizens automatically. This will be termed as deemed service. This is a revolutionary step of the state government in public interest.

Chouhan said that under the Madhya Pradesh Delivery of Public Service Guarantee Act, public services are to be provided to the applicant by the officer within the time-limit and penalty is imposed on the officer for not providing the services within the stipulated time to the applicant. The amount received as fine is given to the applicant. This provision has been made more effective in public interest. This Act is being amended through an ordinance to make the provision that if the service is not provided by the officer to the applicant till the prescribed limit of service delivery, then those services will be automatically received by the applicant after the prescribed time limit.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that adulteration is a major crime. There have been reports of adulteration of food and medicines, even in plasma used to treat corona infection, and in the corona vaccine. Can there be a bigger crime than this? This is playing with the lives of people. This will not be allowed to happen in Madhya Pradesh at any cost. For this also, ordinance has been approved in the Cabinet meeting.

Sections 272, 273, 274, 275 and 276 of the Indian Penal Code have been amended to replace 6 months imprisonment and fine up to Rs one thousand with life imprisonment and fine. The adulterator will be punished with life imprisonment. In this ordinance, the person resorting to adulteration while manufacturing will be punished. The trader will not be punished. The owner of the factory where the commodity is being manufactured will be punished and will not be spared at any cost. The accused will spent his entire life in jail.

The 273 (K) has been added to the new Section in which there is provision of five year imprisonment and fine of Rs one lakh or both on sale of food items of expiry date. In the battle going on against adulteration, this law will become a very strong medium to stop adulteration.
