Barkatullah University (BU) administration has decided to conduct admissions in the University Teaching Departments (UTDs) through online admission process. last year, till July 30, when the admissions in under-graduate and postgraduate courses in the colleges were conducted online, the minority colleges and UTDs of all the universities were exempted from it.
BU administration in the recently issued guidelines has said that online admission will be conducted in the UTDs too. The Department of Higher Education (DHE) had been suggesting all the universities to conduct online admissions. BU administration has taken the decision to include UTDs in online admission process in the wake of irregularities surfaced in the UTD admissions.
The last date for admission in UTDs of all the universities in the state has been fixed as June 30. BU has taken the decision to conduct online admission in UTDs after witnessing success of DHE in college admissions of last academic year.
It is worth mentioning that The Pioneer exposed an admission scam carried out in sociology department of Barkatullah University in February this year in which more than 10 students were admitted flouting Supreme Court guidelines for admission.
Youth Congress General Secretary Ubhay Kushal Tiwari said that this decision of BU administration is going to prevent the illegal admissions carried out in the university. Students will only get admission on the basis of merit only. This decision of DHE should be welcomed.
BU Registrar Sanjay Tiwari said that the decision to conduct online admissions in UTDs is to regularize the admission system. All the admissions in the colleges under BU are conducted through online process only. Besides, admission in MBA will be conducted through counseling only.
