BPEd students call off protest as exam schedule is declared

Staff Reporter

Six hours of ‘Sholay’ style protest by students of Bachelor of Physical Education (B PEd) at BU campus ended after examination schedule was declared by the Barkatullah University (BU) Management on Monday.

More than 20 students of B PEd protested against the BU management and State Government after climbing 60 ft overhead water tank. Students who have taken admissions in the year 2014-15 after the completion of the duration of course are still waiting for examinations.

Police and BU management efforts failed to pacify the students as they were threatening to commit suicide if the time table of examinations is not declared.

The student came down after the time table for declared for the examinations but still the conduction of examinations is doubted as it would violate the findings of the report which found colleges conducting B PEd not eligible to fulfill the criteria.

Notably the problem started after the report was submitted by a committee formed to check the colleges appropriate for conducting B PEd course in the year 2014-15 and in the report few colleges were found not eligible to conduct the course but the session was started and most of the colleges continued with the course with the students who took admissions.

Using public addressing (PA) system communication between the students and BU management occurred. The students were demanding to conduct examination as for the past two years examinations have not been conducted and still there is no clarity on the dates of the examinations after two years of the commencement of the course and their admissions.
