Crime branch Bhopal arrested a bootlegger and recovered 200 bottles of country made liquor and a scooter worth over Rs 75000 near ISBT at Hoshangabad road on Sunday.
The accused was using a scooter to transport the liquor illegally.
Acting on a tip off, the crime branch team acted swiftly and seized illegal liquor by arresting the accused.
The team tracked the accused near ISBT and as a result of which a smuggler with illegal liquor on a scooter was spotted who tried to escape after spotting police but was nabbed.
The nabbed accused was identified as Suleman of Pul Bogdha. From his possession 200 bottles of country liquor kept in two sacks and a scooter worth around Rs 75000 was seized.
After the preliminary investigation, a case under section 34 (A) of the Excise Act. The buyers of the liquor provided by the accused would be investigated in the further investigation.
The action was taken in the ongoing drive to curb the increasing number of illegal trade of liquor in the city and outskirts of the city and received good success in the past few months.
