In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl who was missing from her house at Charnikul village in Patamda block since the past three days was found hanging from a tree near her village late last evening.
The girl whose decomposed body was found hanging from the tree had earlier eloped with a 18-year-old youth Suraj Kumar Rajak on Thursday afternoon, leading the parents to lodge a complaint with the Patamda police station the same night.
late last evening, a passerby had discovered the girl’s hanging body. Immediately after the news spread at the Charnikul village the police were informed. The police on Sunday recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
Deputy superintendent of police (Patamda) Ameet Kumar said that the girl had allegedly been eloped by a teenaged youth of the same village three days ago.
“We are investigating the incident. After the body was traced, the girl’s father lodged an FIR with the Patamda police station alleging a youth, Suraj Kumar Rajak to have murdered his daughter. Though the body did not bear any mark of injury, we have registered a case of murder on the basis of the FIR,” said Kumar.
The DSP said that acting on the FIR they had raided the house of Suraj, but he was found missing. “We discovered that the accused, Suraj, is also missing from his house since Thursday. He might have hung the body after murdering her by strangulating. Once post-mortem, the matter will be further clear whether the girl has committed suicide or was murdered,” said the senior police officer.
Kumar, when queried, said the girl’s cloth was found intact and from the apparel of the victim, had not been raped.
