The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been awarded with the HUDCO Award for the year 2017-18.
The BMC has been facilitated under the ‘Sanitation Theme’, category of solid waste management and Cost effective/Eco-friendly/ Innovative sanitation solutions for the provision of Smart Bin with the establishment of Real Time Vehicle Tracking (RTVT) and Fuel Trekking System (FTS) in the garbage vehicles especially for solid waste management.
A programme was organized on the 48th Foundation Day of HUDCO, at the Stine Auditorium of India Habitat Center, New Delhi, on Wednesday. During the programme the Chief Hospitality and Urban and Housing Secretary, Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of Urban and Housing, Government of India, Durga Shankar Mishra and President of HUDCO M Ravikant were present as the chief guests on the occasion.
The award was given to BMC Commissioner Priyanka Das, by the President of HUDCO M. Ravikant. The BMC has been felicitated with a shield along with a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a certificate.
It is to be noted that continuous work is being done to provide better facilities to the citizens of the city by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation. Continuous efforts are also being made to strengthen cleanliness and solid waste management system. Under these efforts, fuel tracking system has been set up to control the consumption of real time vehicle tracking systems and vehicles in vehicles, with continuous monitoring of nearly 500 vehicles attached to garbage transportation in the city and increasing their work efficiency.
Real Time Vehicle Tracking System is an empowering project. All the vehicles include Fuel Sensor and G.P.S. The system is to operate. This makes the garbage collection system effective and easy by making all the vehicles real-time monitoring by the command and control center and changing all the garbage containers to smart bin.
Due to such facilities, cleanliness systems the solid waste management in the city have been strengthened and better facilities are being provided to the citizens of the city.
