BJP's allegiance towards Vajpayee uncertain: Rawat

Staff Reporter

Training guns at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Union Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday alleged that the BJP has found saviour in a man denounced by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for failing to discharge his ‘Raj Dharma’.

After inaugurating the inaugurating the mobile application to aid poll campaign in Madhya Pradesh, Rawat was talking to mediapersons. He told, “The BJP’s allegiance towards Vajpayee is uncertain. The former premier would have been more upset than senior BJP leader lK Advani.” Charging the state’s ruling BJP for fabricating and propagating lies, he said that the saffron party has published an advertisement in newspapers depicting Madhya Pradesh as surplus power state while the truth is contrary.

Rawat claimed that the BJP Government has been over-withdrawing from central grid often and has been issued over 20 reminders to refrain from doing so to avoid tripping. Hailing the Congress manifesto for Madhya Pradesh polls as a roadmap for future, he said positive responses had been received with regards to the poll document. He said that the Congress’ Central unit not only supported the manifesto but would also ensure its implementation.

Replying to a query about dissidents contesting against party candidates, Rawat, who has been appointed as election coordinator for Madhya Pradesh, said that more than 85 per cent dissidents have been pacified. Efforts are being made to placate others. However, he parried queries related to state Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria’s niece Kalawati Bhuria contesting as an independent candidate.
