Expressing concern over the damage of crops due to hailstorms in Madhya Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party has assured peasants that the State Government and the party organisation stand beside them in this difficult time.
BJP State President and MP Narendra Singh Tomar expressed deep concern over almost three dozen districts affected with the natural calamity that has more or less affected over 2.5 lakh farmers. Tomar said, "Every possible help would be provided to the affected farmers so that they could become certain about the forthcoming Kharif crop and could become competent enough to stand on their feet."
Tomar expressed satisfaction over Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's visit to the affected areas and instructing the authorities to carry on the loss assessment work and preparing their details on war footing.
He insisted the administrative staff engaged in the assessment work to take liberal and sympathetic approach towards the peasants while carrying out their work. The benefit of insurance would be provided to the farmers besides they would be provided manure and seeds without interest. loan recovery would remain suspended and half of the principal amount and interest would be borne by the State Government while the farmers could repay the remaining amount in two years, he added.
The BJP State President said that it is for the first time in the history of the State that Chief Minister understanding the seriousness of natural calamity called on the cabinet meeting and hold discussions in detail over the problem and paved way for the amendment in the revenue general circular guide.
Efforts were made by doing amendments on prior amendments in order to sooth the wounds of the farmers. The administrative system was alerted in such a way that the farmers could feel that the revenue code is meant for them at the place of farmers for code, he added.
