The victory march of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) continued in Madhya Pradesh as the saffron party emerged victorious in 41 of the total 50 districts that went to the polls for the district panchayat elections. The election for all districts of the State except for Anuppur was held in the last few days.

Condition of the Congress was so worst in these elections that the party could not find candidates in nine districts due to which BJP candidates from these nine districts got elected unopposed. The BJP candidates got elected unopposed from Sagar, Damoh, Harda, Betul, Hoshangabad, Neemuch, Dewas, Raisen and Mandla.

Though the condition in the State capital became like that of battle field as the Congress candidate Manmohan Nagar who joined BJP on Wednesday night returned to Congress on Thursday.

Nagar after getting elected reached the BJP State office Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya campus but soon the Congress leaders of the State capital reached there and tried to take him away with them. This angered the BJP workers and leaders that included Huzur MlA Rameshwar Sharma and they had a scuffle with the Congress leaders.

However, Nagar chose to go with the Congress leaders that included Bhopal District Congress Committee president PC Sharma, former Bhopal Municipal Corporation Chairman Kailash Mishra, Bhopal District Congress Committee (rural) president Avnish Bhargava, Corporator Girish Sharma and others. Together with Congress leaders Nagar reached the State Congress office Indira Bhawan in the evening and met former MlA and district Congress president PC Sharma at the MP Congress Committee office. The other districts where Congress managed to register victory include Shajapur, Ujjain, Badwani, Jhabua, Bhind, Morena and Shivpuri while the rebel Congress candidates managed to register victory at in two districts including   Khargone and Umaria.
