Even when Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is against commercialisation of cricket his party workers are organising cricket championship in his name in the State. The cricket tournament will start with matches between block level teams.
The champion team will be sent to Chicago as the victory prize while the first runner-up team will get trip to Kanyakumari and second runner-up team will get trip of Bellurmath.
After spot fixing case of Indian Premiere league (IPl) surfaced CM Chouhan tweeted that he had been against the lies and commercialization of cricket since the launching of IPl apparently ignoring his views Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is launching cricket tournament in large scale in the State.
The tournament has also been named Mukhyamantri cricket championship. The matches of the tournament will start from next week in all the 744 blocks.
In the first level eight to 10 teams will compete at each block, block level matches will continue for three days. After the block level, district level matches will be organised in which block level winner teams will participate.
In the month of June divisional level matches will be played between district level winner teams. The winning team of the tournament will be sent to Chicago observing 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
According to sources, BJP is organising cricket tournament in the election year to gain support of the youth of the State. That is why only block to state level matches are being organised. The responsibility of the tournament has been given to the Youth wing of the party.
