Holding the Centre and Bihar Government responsible for the series of bomb blasts during Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s Hunkar rally in Patna, which claimed half a dozen lives, BJP general secretary and Madhya Pradesh in-charge Ananth Kumar on Tuesday called for a high-level inquiry into the incident.
While talking to media persons here at the State BJP headquarters, Kumar said, “On October 23 itself, the Intelligence Bureau provided information about the likelihood of an attack. The explosions occurring even after the alert shows that New Delhi and the State Government took no step despite being in possession of such sensitive information. The Centre and State regimes proved failures.”
Pointing out that the Indian Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the incident, Kumar added that the attack was an assault on nationalism by terrorists who were targeting Modi. With this claim of IM, attacks on the election meetings proposed in the election-bound States, can not be ruled out. This can not be checked without prompt action by Central government and Central agencies, he added.
“It was decided that more than 100 meetings will be organised across the country under Modi’s leadership. Therefore, the Election Commission of India should take cognisance of security etc and monitor the situation,” he felt. Kumar is here to attend a key meeting of the State Election Committee. Questioning the role of Home Affairs Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, he said, Shinde should have taken steps after receipt of intelligence inputs but by not doing so he committed a grave mistake. It appears that the Minister is fulfilling the role of postman.
