Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State vice president Vijesh lunawat, while terming the polythene ban to be implemented in the State from next month as a right step in the right direction, congratulated the State Government its new initiative.

lunawat, in a statement here on Tuesday, said, “The bad effects of polythene are coming to fore since long. On the one hand the use of non-standard polythene is polluting the environment and on the other hand its dangerous results over human and cattle’s life are also coming to the fore.”

lunawat further said the production of polythene has taken shape of cottage industry. The State Government considering all aspects issued warning in advance before ban to get mentally prepared to stop use of it.  In this view the decision of the state government to ban the polythene from next month in the state is wise decision in the public interest by the government, he added.

He said that the deadly effects of polythene associated with the health are very well known besides polythene is also one of the reasons for death of thousands of animals and cattle.

Keeping eatable goods and liquid substances in sub standard polythene not only results in stomach diseases but also causes deadly diseases like cancer. Doctors and pharmacologists also opine that polythene is sweet poison that is deadly. In these circumstances banning of polythene legally would not be sufficient and the people would have to prepare themselves mentally to stop use of it, he added.

The BJP state VP said that some charitable organizations are playing leading role in public interest by distributing free cloth bags and understanding the need of the hour other charitable and social organizations need to come forward in public interest to associate with this drive. People should also extend cooperation and should not use polythene, he added.
