The businessmen in the New Market are preparing tableau of Goddess Durga temple situated at Salkanpur in Raisen district.

The New Market Vyapari Sangh is celebrating its golden jubilee year this time by coming out with the tableau. It is one of the major tableaus of the city including Bittan Market, Barkhedi Market, MP Nagar, etc.

A renowned contractor of the city Nivaran has been assigned to construct the tableau. The whole work started one month ago and around 40 workers from different parts of West Bengal are working hard to prepare the design of Salkanpur Temple.

The pandal is being organised under the supervision of Ravi Singh, Chief of the New Market Vyapari Sangh.  The important part of this year’s pandal is that the Sangh has not collected funds from the shops of the New Market. The revenue was collected from the stalls allotted in the pandal and the advertisements only. The Sangh is spending around Rs 10 lakh including the set up preparation and idol of Goddess Durga. The idol at the pandal will be 18 ft tall and 23ft wide.

The Sangh’s General Secretary Namdev Kalwani, the programme will last till dussehra and on the last day a bhandara at a large scale would be held at the site. The idol would be immersed the next day of the dussehra. Kalwani also informed that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will visit the tableau on the fifth day of the Navratri.

Fifty years success to the Navratri tableau is a great celebration for the Vyapari Sangh of New Market and the businessmen are look forward to make it a great occasion.
