More than 27,000 cases of rapes and gang rapes have been registered in the state since the year 2004. Thousand other such cases have not been reported. In the reign of mama Shivraj Singh Chouhan nearly 6,000 girls have been molested,” retorted Pradesh Congress Committee President Kantilal Bhuria during the dharna organised by the district Congress Committee at the Board Office Square.
Bhuria attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in the state alleging that it has proved incapable of either developing the state or in maintaining law and order.
“The people should not expect anything from this corrupt, worthless and irresponsible government. The failure of BJP Government has been clearly established in every field,” Bhuria said.
Addressing the large number of Congress workers gathered at the dharna venue, Bhuria said, “The relatives or people closely associated with BJP leaders have been found to be involved in the incidents of rape and gang rape that have surfaced in last few years. Further, in order to hide the black deeds of BJP leaders the police are pressurized to wrap up the cases hurriedly.”
“The BJP government keeps thumping its own back while protecting criminals and mafias. Sarpanchs have been denied of funds and all the budget of panchayats go into pockets of BJP leaders. The Chief Minister should explain why he is keeping mum when women are being brutalized in the state,” he said.
Bhuria urged the Congress workers to work with full dedication for removal of the BJP government and restore law and order in the state.
The dharna was chaired by district Congress Committee President PC Sharma, legislator Arif Aqueel, Media Department Chairperson Manak Agrawal, Spokesperson JP Dhanopia, Avanish Bhargav, Shashi Rajput, Ravi Saxena, Manoj Shukla, Monu Saxena, Pratibha Tomar and others.
