Bhopal police not ready to mend ways, Rs 10k fine imposed on SHO

Staff Reporter

The police in Bhopal that has faced criticism from different corners on delay in registering FIR of a gang-rape victim few days ago, are still not ready to mend its ways.

After this matter came to fore, DIG Santosh Kumar Singh imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the SHO of Shahpura police station.

A similar incident was reported a couple of days ago, as the Shahpura police station staff declined to register an FIR on a complaint by a 24-year-old victim. She was heard only heard after she complained the matter to DIG Santosh Kumar Singh.

Police are not ready to mend the ways of working which was again proved by Shahpura SHO Jitendra Patel who was imposed with a penalty of Rs 10,000 for not registering an FIR in a molestation case even after one week of the victim’s complaint against the molesting accused.

The 24-year-old victim is a resident of Shahpura and teased and molested by Ramchandra Banwari who is brother of local leader Ratanchandra  Banwari.

After the SHO of Shahpura Jitendra Patel failed to take action against the accused the victim lodged complaint with the DIG Santosh Kumar Singh on November 12 and when he found that the behavior of SHO Patel negligent and was imposed with a fine of Rs  10000.

The action was delayed under the influence of brother of accused which would be investigated.

DIG Santosh Kumar has instructed Addl SP Zone 2 to investigate the case. He would handle the case and would arrest the accused in the further investigation.

Notably after the gang rape which shook the state capital, a 12-year-old girl who was gang raped and got pregnant faced negligent and insensitive behavior from the police and trend of remaining insensible towards victims of serious offences continues with the latest reported victim’s complaint of molestation and lack of any will to take action.
