Bhopal Organ Donation Society has been formed with an aim to develop a proper coordination and system for organ donors and recipients.

While speaking with the media persons on Tuesday, District Collector Nishant Warwade said that in the  past two and half month around 44 organ donations have been done and more than 1000 pledge forms have been filled but the number should be far better and would be made better after the awareness of the donation would be increased.

The biggest problem in case of organ donation was to find appropriate person or agency to help and the problem would be resolved at the donors could contact round the clock on 999309807 and 999309808 and apart from these numbers and 108 ambulance services could be contacted for help, he added.

The 108 ambulance services would be supporting organ donation and the permission has been sought from the principal secretary of health department.

In the case of brain dead cases if the doctors provide permission after checking it and family’s consent the organs could provide life for others which is one of the noble ways to help other human being.

Government of India has passed Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994 (THOA) and under the act society would act for better coordination between organ donor and recipient.

Every day around 50 deaths are reported in the city which include natural and accidental and by spreading awareness around 5 donors out of the 50 deaths should be persuaded to donate skin and eyes.

The society is made by voluntary help and support of the members which include officials from administration and doctors and other agencies which could help in the cause. The society is headed by district collector Nishant Warwade.
