PNS

Infamous for students breaking every rule in the book and resorting to copying tactics in examinations, the results of higher secondary (class XII) examinations show that efforts of the district administration to prevent copying came up trumps.

In fact, the district administration had geared up beforehand at least two months back to clip the wings of unscrupulous students. Tight security arrangements had been put in place at examination centres this time around with armed personnel being deployed at extremely sensitive centres.

Thus, pass percentage of students got restricted to 13.12 per cent poorest performance by Bhind students thus far. Of the 33,723 regular students who took the examination, merely 4,404 students passed. Pass percentage of girl students was 17.08, while the figure for boys stood at 11.83 per cent.

likewise, 2,668 private students appeared in the examination. Of them, only 59 students succeeded. last year, 30,479 students took the examination. Of them, 20,892 students cleared it. Thus, the pass percentage was 69.15 per cent.

District Collector Illaya T Raja, who played an important role in the efforts to prevent copying, said a sense of enthusiasm and hope was prevailing among students and parents due to prevention of copying. Steps are being taken to improve the quality of education.

Education Department sources said the impact of strictness bore fruit as 50 school directors had applied that they do not need recognition for their schools. The district administration has cancelled the recognition of 300 schools for the next session.
