While the police are still groping in the dark in connection with the brutal assault on a woman sub-engineer, the condition of the victim is reportedly serious in hospital.
The police officials are of the opinion that the assailants might be from Bhopal or Sehore, but some local persons were certainly involved in the case. The police are grilling local miscreants to find out the clues.
The victim Priyanka Baghel was shot at by two unidentified bike-borne miscreants in Mandi area of Sehore on Wednesday. She is undergoing treatment at lBS Hospital in Bhopal.
The police detained a couple of people and questioned, however, nothing concrete could come out till date. It was suspected that there might be some dispute related to payment of any contractor in the Janpad Panchayat. However, the officials claimed that there was no bill pending with the victim at present.
Official sources said that Priyanka is posted in Sehore Janpad Panchayat office for past one year, but she did not have any dispute with anybody.
Since, the assailants are still out of police reach, other women employees of Janpad are reeling under fear. They have demanded adequate security arrangements so that they could move freely in any party of the town.
SDO, Rural Engineering Services (RES) Priyanka advocated the demand of the women employees stating that the administration should certainly make proper arrangements in this regard.
CEO of Janpad panchayat Rajeev Khare told The Pioneer that neither the victim approached her regarding complaint against anyone, not anybody against her.
The local engineers association in a memorandum to Collector Sehore Kavindra Kiyawat demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Expressing angst over the incidence the association also demanded security for the Government engineers.
