Under attack from all corners for his meeting with the most wanted terrorist Hafiz Saeed and his controversial statement over the status of Kashmir in Pakistani media, noted journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik got into legal trouble on Tuesday when a local journalist from Bhopal filed a petition in a district court here under charge of sedition and abetment to mutiny.

The court admitted the petition for registering a sedation case against him. The next date of hearing has been fixed on August 8.

The petition was moved in the court by advocate Anand Jain on behalf of local journalist OP Hayaran.

Earlier, a similar petition was moved in the court of Indore district and the next date for hearing in that case was fixed on August 5.

Congress leader from Indore Vivek Khandelwal had filed the petition against Vaidik leveling same charges in the court of first class judicial magistrate VP Sharma under section 124 A (sedition) and 132 (abetment to mutiny) of the IPC. On August 5 the petitioner will record his statements.

Notably, during his visit to Pakistan, Vaidik had met mastermind of Mumbai terror attack Hafiz Saeed. He claimed that he had interviewed Saeed. Moreover, Vaidik in an interview to a Pakistani news channel claimed that Kashmir could be separated from India and merged with Pakistani-occupied Kashmir.
