Anomalies in teaching assignments in MP schools to be rectified

Staff Reporter

Admitting that a number of faculty members in the Government schools are taking classes in subjects other than their own, in order to continue serving in present posting towns, Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Vijay Shah on Friday informed the Assembly that the regime is initiating steps to rectify the discrepancy.

"Several teachers shifted from villages to towns. This created an excess of 20,000 teachers in towns.

On the other hand, there is a dearth of teaching staff in villages.

The dispensation is taking steps to send them back to villages," said Shah while replying to a query by Sohanlal Valmik of principal opposition Congress, during Question Hour.

Valmik sought to know whether 'shiksha karmcharis' appointed by civic bodies could be transferred out of the limits of their respective civic body.

In his reply, Shah said those teachers who were appointed by civic bodies in towns would not be transferred. However, such teachers who shifted to towns following their appointment in rural areas would be sent back.

In the Question Hour, Subedar Singh Rajaudha of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raised the issue of certain private schools not providing admissions to poor children under the Right to Education Act.

Shah assured that the Department would inquire any complaint received in this regard within a month and de-recognise the school concerned if the complaint were found true.
