A group of amateur artists from the State capital are devoted to painting despite being in different professions. They have formed a group known as ‘Art Odyssey’ and their paintings exhibition commenced here at Bharat Bhawan from January 19 to 24.
The exhibition, under the banner of ‘Srijan-16’ is an exhibition of Water Color Painting. The paintings whose works have been included in the exhibition are- Pramod Rai, Prabhu Dhok, Dinesh Dubey, Navrattan Kumar Bhogal, K.D. Kannojiya, Mahesh Shwrikar, Ashish Naik, Dev Ballal, Pankaj Sen and Vijay Gaharwar.
The peculiarity of this exhibition is that all the paintings were prepared using water colors and almost all the known spots of Bhopal have been covered. Vijay Gaharwar, one of the artists from Bhopal says that his inspiration is his teacher Alokh Bhausa, who is his faculty in Hamidia College where he is studying in second year of fine arts. His future plans are to work on water and oil paintings using conceptual ideas, he added.
Another local artist Dinesh Dubey who is presently working in New Delhi takes hardly one and a half hour to complete one painting. He feels that without the inspiration of Pramod Rai, he would have been nothing. He plans for experimenting rivulet technique in his paintings.
Software professional Ashish Naik says, “I adopted painting as a hobby, but it continues with me almost everywhere. I feel that at the later part of my life, I would adopt this as a profession. Nature has always been my inspiration and I work on spontaneous ideas.”
Dev Ballal, a young artist from the city, though staying in Indore, says, “The Odyssey Group is my inspiration. As I am a student of Animation field, I would like to incorporate painting and animation into my art. Painting has always been my hobby since childhood and I am motivated by it.”
