leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh has alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has again been exposed on his zero tolerance policy on corruption with the transfer of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Chhavi Bharadwaj.
He further alleged that there has always been difference in what Chouhan says and does. He had claimed that he has zero tolerance policy on corruption, but Bharadwaj, who had exposed corruption of around Rs 200 crore in the vehicle branch of the BMC was transferred.
Singh stated that shifting Bharadwaj on the holiday (Saturday), being Eid-uz-Zuha clearly indicates that the Chief Minister wants to safeguard those involved in the corruption.
While commencing his third term as Chief Minister, Chouhan had pledged that he would not tolerate corruption. However, in past four years, whatever steps he has taken were only to safeguard the corrupt and giving plump postings to the corrupt.
Whether it was shifting of Katni SP Gaurav Tiwari or new posting of Satna municipal Commissioner Surendra Kathuria; they indicate difference in Chouhan’s saying and doing. Besides, ADM Virendra Kumar in Sheopur was transferred only because he was involved in removing encroachment from 321 bigha government land by the powerful people associated with the BJP.
Singh alleged that at present time, it has become difficult for the honest officials. “People in the government and the BJP are so much involved in corruption that the field officials are unable to work clean-fingered.
By exposing Rs 200 crore corruption in the BMC, Chhavi Bharadwaj had created ripples among the corrupt and probably the Chief Minister could not digest it and issued orders to transfer her, alleged Singh.
