If the Chief Minister is well wisher and wants to give relief to farmers, loan waiver should be done, Swaminathan report should be implemented and support price should be 50 per cent more than the cost of produce, said leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh.
He was participating the discussion on adjournment motion brought by Congress in the House. He said, “Chief Minister should in his reply to adjournment motion should tell what lesson he has learnt from Mandsaur farmers’ protest incident on June 6 in which six farmers were gunned down.”
Singh said that the root cause of farmer unrest is the launching of schemes with tall claims but implementation of the schemes is not done in proper manner.
He said that the Moneylender Act would have curbed the increasing number of suicides in the State but even after its approval in the cabinet it never materialised.
At the time of ending fast CM declared that FIR would be registered against those traders who would buy yield from farmers at support price but when the orders were issued FIR was not mentioned.
Agricultural Minister has stated that no land of any farmer would be confiscated but till date no such orders have been issued.
The land has been confiscated of farmers who have not deposited electricity bills and interest on loans and this condition is due not getting appropriate cost of yield.
Around two years ago, CM announced Farmer Welfare Fund for providing suitable price for their yield but no such fund was formed and after Mandsaur incident CM announced to create fund which was announced two years back, he added.
Government is not willing to take lesson from the past as last year also famers have dumped Onions after they were not provided with support price and for the past one year nothing has been done to arrange storage.
In a period of over one month more than 71 farmers have committed suicide and CM has not shown concern even of the farmers who have committed suicide in his own constituency.
The senior leader of BJP have issued disgracing statements for famers like waiver of loan as fashion, farmers are greedy, subsidy seekers and many other.
Aggrieved family members were forced to visit city from 400 km to end CM’s fast, Singh alleged.
