AIIMS Bhopal’s Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) successfully performed a complex and rare surgery on a 30-year-old male patient, who had been suffering from a progressively growing mass on the right side of his chest for over a year and a half. Despite consulting multiple hospitals, the patient sought help at AIIMS Bhopal after finding no relief.
Investigations revealed a large tumor on the right side of the chest, which had encased multiple ribs and was pressing on the right lung, causing significant discomfort. After a detailed evaluation, a decision was made to surgically remove the tumor, which weighed around two kilograms and measured 20 centimeters in length. The surgery was carefully planned by the expert team at the CTVS department, led by Dr. Yogesh Niwariya.
Following the procedure, the patient showed steady improvement and was discharged from the hospital after a successful recovery. Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, expressed pride in the success, stating, “This surgery is a significant milestone for Madhya Pradesh and surrounding regions. It is not only a clinical success but also a new ray of hope for patients facing critical health conditions. AIIMS Bhopal remains committed to providing advanced medical care to all, especially underserved rural and economically weaker populations.”
The surgery was supported by Dr. M. Kishan, Dr. Surendra Singh Yadav, Dr. Rahul Sharma, Dr. Vikram Watti, Dr. Aditya Sirohi, and anesthesiologists Dr. Harish Kumar and Dr. Deepak Krishna from the Departments of Anaesthesia and Burns & Plastic Surgery. AIIMS Bhopal continues to provide world-class healthcare services, prioritizing patients in need of specialized treatment.
This successful surgery highlights AIIMS Bhopal’s growing reputation as a center of excellence for complex medical procedures. The hospital’s multidisciplinary approach, which combines expertise from various departments, ensures that patients receive comprehensive care.
