An additional three-tier air-conditioned compartment was attached to the Indore-Rajendranagar (Patna) Express, which derailed near Kanpur early this morning, killing 105 passengers and injuring over 200, before leaving from Indore railway station yesterday, Railway sources said. The joy of confirmation of tickets turned out to be a nightmare to the passengers as many of them sustained injuries in the accident and landed to hospitals. ''We have seen off our relatives at Indore station and they were happy after having confirmed their tickets. The train was supposed to arrive Patna this afternoon but instead they have been admitted to hospital,'' relatives of the passengers said. They said they could contact their relatives after four to five hours as the phone connectivity was not possible. There was no direct train either from Indore or from Patna to arrive the accident spot and it takes about 12-13 hours.
Many of them were seen disturbed as they were still unable to get information about the whereabouts of their near and dear.
