Staff Reporter

The absconding accused in the Pre-Medical Test-2012 scam, suspended City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rakshpal Singh Yadav, surrendered before the Special Task Force (STF) here on Monday.

Rakshpal Singh Yadav, who was earlier posted in Gwalior, had facilitated clearing of his son Ajit Yadav in the PMT-2012 and had paid around Rs 20 lakh.  Ajit cleared the examinations and got admission in Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur, in the MBBS course. Rakshpal Singh Yadav had links with the network which was involved in helping clearing the PMT entrance examinations and was made accused in PMT-2012.   Singh was in contact with Sudhir Rai who was an accused in the PMT-2012 scam and was arrested earlier. Currently Rai is in judicial custody. In the investigation of PMT-2012 examination scam Singh’s son Ajit was made accused but was granted anticipatory bail.  During further investigation a case against Rakshpal Singh Yadav was registered after which it was found that he had paid for his son’s clearing the PMT-2012 examination. As soon as a case was registered Rakshpal Singh Yadav went missing and dramatically surfaced on Monday and surrendered at the STF office in the State capital.

Singh would be questioned and it is possible that important links would be unearthed.  When STF failed to find Rakshpal Singh Yadav a cash reward of Rs 3,000 was announced on him which was increased to Rs 10,000 later for providing the information. Meanwhile, the STF declared a cash award of Rs 5,000 on four absconding accused on Monday.
