The 6th Bhishm Sahani Memorial Festival began here from Tuesday at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhawan with the play 'Abhi Manav Zinda Hai'.Directed by noted playwright of the city Mohammad Nazeer Qureshi, the play was staged by the artists of Karvaan theatre Group, Bhopal.
The play narrates the tale of selfish desires of elite human beings and the dreams of totally different community of people. This play is also about the never ending battle between the human and inhuman acts.
Abhi Manav Zinda hai brings into light three divisions of the society. One is signified through a cruel captain who is not interested in anybody's grief and just wants his work to be done at any cost. He does not bother whom he is dealing with, whether it is fellow soldier or a common man he is cruel to everybody. The second section of the society is symbolized through a doctor known as Doctor Afi, who is just opposite to the captain and only works in favour of humanity. He is one of those few people because of whom humanity still survives in society. The third section is about the forest dwellers that live a peaceful life in the forest away from all the materialistic pleasures of the world.
The story begins with the discovery of Bermuda Triangle. Captain along with other members is on his way to discover the Bermuda Triangle and on the way their ship is wrecked. As their ship is wrecked, there are only five survivors including captain and doctor. They reach an island where people talk in a different language, a language no one can understand easily.
To their visit to the island, captain thought only a single way to survive and that was to rule these forest dwellers. With his cruel plans he manages to snatch the throne of the king and begin his rule there. After going through much pain and injustice, one of the forest dweller manages to kill the captain and this was the end of the play.
Meeting with the situation of the contemporary society, the play manages to capture the attention of the audience. But the most interesting factors of this play was the language spoken by forest dwellers and much focus was given to the costumes and stage craft.
