Claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party is poised to play a crucial role in the general elections within Madhya Pradesh, AAP leaders on Sunday said the party is preparing its ground in all 29 constituencies.
“The AAP is likely to contest all the seats and the party will take out a ‘Swaraj Yatra’ from January 12 in five zones including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Rewa. A committee shall also be constituted to oversee preparations,” AAP state Spokesman Prahlad Pandey told media here.
The AAP heads would raise burning issues such as corruption and compact discs containing information regarding the lok Sabha polls would be provided to people during the Yatra.
The party’s State Secretary Akshay Hunka expressed confidence that the AAP would emerge as a strong opposition in Madhya Pradesh and work as an alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress.
Declining comment on the political developments in Delhi, the leaders said they are concerned with this state alone. leadership is being “developed” and a membership drive underway in all 51 districts.
Terming the irregularities in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board as a “maha ghotala” (mega scam), the AAP leaders hinted that the party would launch an agitation soon.
Buoyed by its performance in Delhi polls, AAP has decided to contest the upcoming lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, though the party is yet to finalise the number of seats.
“We will definitely contest the upcoming lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh and will be in a position to decide the number of seats we will be contesting in nearly a month’s time,” AAP State Secretary, Akshay Hunka told media persons.
The party will be taking out rallies in all the 29 lok Sabha constituencies in the state between January 12 and 19 to identify the issues for the polls and also take people’s feedback on the problems faced by them, he said.
During these rallies, the party will also form constituency-wise teams for the polls, he added. AAP today held a strategy session of its members in all the districts of the state for the general elections.
