Staff Reporter

Registering strong objection before MP Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) against private power company lanco the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here on Tuesday alleged that the power purchased from lanco Power would put extra burden of Rs 10,000 crore over the people of Madhya Pradesh.

The AAP protesting this purchase also hold demonstration before the MPERC.

AAP Madhya Pradesh convener Alok Agarwal registered strong objection during the public hearing over the petition filed by the MP Power Management Company (MPPMC) in connection with purchase of electricity from lanco Amarkantak Power Company limited.

The points over that the AAP objected are that the MPERC does not have any right to hear this petition as per section 62 of the Electricity Act 2003.

lanco Amarkantak has done fraud in 2005 it entered into agreement of providing electricity at maximum rate of Rs 2.20 per unit for twenty-five years and took clearance of environment ministry,

took coal linkage and made arrangements of public

funds.

And after taking all facilities backed out and canceled the agreement and at the place of providing electricity to Madhya Pradesh sold it in open market and earned crores of rupees.

Due to this the MP government blacklisted lanco on February 14, 2012.  But flouting laws a new agreement was done on November 26, 2012 despite lanco being blacklisted.

The MPERC ordered to purchase electricity at the rate of Rs 2.83 per unit from December 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013.

Not only the order of the MPERC was out of its ambit but the rate was also much higher than the earlier rate of Rs 2.20 per unit due to that the people were burdened.

The MPPMC is continuously purchasing electricity from lanco since April 1, 2013 without any tariff order that is clear violation of the Electricity Act 2003 and sue to this illegal purchase people have been overburdened with Rs 600 crore.

Hence strong action under section 149 of Electricity Act 2003 should be taken against officials of MPPMC and Rs 600 crore should be recovered from them, Agarwal added.
