The State unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following its national leadership footprints on Wednesday levelled serious allegations of corruption against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
AAP MP chief spokesperson Akshay Hunka addressing mediapersons alleged that Chouhan pressurised the Central Government to allot Mahan Coal Block to Essar and Hindalco despite the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment not agreeing to it.
Hunka raised some questions for the knowledge of people of the State in relation to the role of Chouhan in helping Anil Ambani's Reliance Power limited (RPl) get surplus coal from Sasan project. The matter in concern is related to coal that is the property of people of India and MP and how the same is being squandered for the profit of one family (Anil Ambani owner of RPl) as against the interests of people.
Hunka said that the people want to know from the Chief Minister if the Madhya Pradesh Government had signed any power purchase agreement with RPl yet. "If not, then whyIJ How much electricity can MP expect from Sasan Power and at what costIJ Till March 2009, Ministry of Coal took the stand that the two coal blocks (Moher & Moher Amlohri) initially allocated was sufficient for Sasan project and that the third block (Chhatrasal) is not required," he said
"Why then Chhatrasal was taken away from NTPC and allotted to SasanIJ How did Ministry of Power come to conclusion on October 9, 2006 that the two blocks allotted to Sasan UMPP was inadequateIJ Do they have any mechanism to assess the quantum of coal in a block which is better than that which Ministry of Coal hasIJ Who is Ministry of Power working for-people or a familyIJ" Hunka asked.
He said in November 2007, the CM wrote to the PM that RPl be allowed to divert the surplus coal from Sasan. "What mechanism the CM had to get this knowledgeIJ Is the CM working for the people of MP or for a familyIJ Why is the CM helping one family as against the people of MPIJ" he asked.
