The difference between traditional and advanced farming can be seen at village Alanpur in Harda district. Young farmer of the village Sanjay has not only achieved stupendous success by novel experiments in farming in his 6-acre ancestral agricultural land, but has also won Rs. 50 thousand Best Farmer Award.
Sanjay Kherwa’s father Devi Singh possesses about 85 acre land in the village. He had been doing farming with traditional methods on this land for years.
His son Sanjay during his MSc course in Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University undertook new experiments on 6-acre of this land. Sanjay grew trees of Aonla on 4-acre land and orange, lemon, sweet lime, fig, vermillion, pomegranate etc. on remaining 2-acre. He also grew fodder for cows on some open space. Instead of chemical fertilisers, he used manure made of cow urine, powder of gram, jaggery and soil from beneath banyan tree.
This novel experiment of farming met with tremendous success. Following this, Sanjay resigned from his job as field consultant in the Horticulture Department and started farming along with his father. He also started disseminating benefits of the technique to other people’s fields on custom hiring basis. Other farmers are also getting immense benefits through the technique and experiments of young Sanjay.
Now, Sanjay has all the latest resources and techniques for farming. He has his own bio gas plant, cattle of bovine species. His entire family is living a happy and prosperous life.
